🐾 Responsible Breeding & Health Commitment at Lexacious

At Lexacious, we are fully committed to the health, welfare, and integrity of the Australian Labradoodle breed. Every breeding decision we make is based on ethical breeding practices that follow the standards of the Worldwide Australian Labradoodle Association (WALA).

✅ Why WALA Affiliation Matters

As registered and affiliated WALA breeders, we have exclusive access to a secure database that allows us to check the 'Coefficient of Inbreeding' (COI) before any mating takes place. This is a critical step in ensuring the long-term health and genetic diversity of our puppies — a safeguard that non-registered breeders do not have access to.

Breeders who are not registered with a recognised organisation like WALA may unknowingly (or knowingly) carry out inbreeding, increasing the risk of serious genetic health issues in their puppies and serious costs to you.

🚫 Misuse of WALA Branding

Sadly, there are breeders who illegally display WALA logos or falsely claim affiliation. These individuals may:

Breed non-genuine Australian Labradoodles
Operate without any recognised ethical or organisational oversight

🕵️‍♂️ What to Ask Any Breeder

When researching a reputable ALD breeder, we strongly encourage you to:

✅ Request to see Health and DNA screening certificates
✅ Ask for official WALA pedigrees
✅ Verify their affiliation with a recognised organisation like WALA
✅ Confirm they DNA profile their breeding dogs
✅ Make sure the puppies are raised in a safe, home-based environment

At Lexacious, we are fully transparent. All of our dogs’ health certificates and WALA pedigrees are available to view during your visit.

🧬 Health Testing & DNA Screening

We provide a 2-year health guarantee and a detailed contract to all of our Lexacious puppy families.

All of our breeding dogs:

Come from fully health and DNA tested lines
Undergo comprehensive health screening prior to being bred
Are only paired with other fully registered and tested dogs from reputable WALA or affiliated ALD breeders

We screen for a range of breed-specific conditions to ensure that no puppy we breed is genetically affected. These include:

🧠 Neurological & Muscular Disorders

DM (Degenerative Myelopathy): Progressive spinal cord disease leading to hind limb paralysis
EIC (Exercise-Induced Collapse): A neuromuscular condition triggered by intense activity

🐕‍🦺 Skin & Coat Conditions

HNPK (Hereditary Nasal Parakeratosis): Causes nasal crusting, particularly in Labs
IC (Improper Coat): Affects breed-standard appearance but not health

👁️ Eye Conditions

PRA (Progressive Retinal Atrophy): Genetic blindness
- PRA-prcd: Common form with gradual vision loss
- PRA-rcd4: Late-onset blindness subtype

🩸 Blood Clotting Disorders

VWD I (Von Willebrand Disease Type I): Bleeding disorder caused by a clotting factor deficiency

This ensures that we can verify and record the accurate ancestry of every Lexacious puppy. DNA profiling provides a unique genetic code — like a fingerprint — that not only confirms parentage, but can also assist in identifying lost or stolen pets.

🧾 WALA Registration & Pedigrees

As part of our WALA membership; which is renewed annually, all health and DNA test results must be submitted and approved before any dog is bred and litters can be registered.

We only breed our dogs with other WALA (or approved ALD organisation) registered dogs who have also completed all necessary health and DNA testing.

All of our puppies come with:

✅ A registered WALA pedigree certificate
✅ A spay/neuter contract
✅ Full transparency on health and parentage
