What is An Australian Labradoodle?

*PLEASE READ VERY IMPORTANT*
When searching on the internet, pet selling sites, social media etc looking for your puppy; it can be very confusing and very misleading.....
An Australian Labradoodle is NOT a Labradoodle, not a Double Doodle, not a Bernadoodle, not a Golden Doodle, Maltipoo not a Cavapoo etc and certainly NOT an Australian Labradoodle X any Doodle mix ( i.e one parent is Australian Labradoodle and the other parent is a Doodle X). There are a lot of ads/claims of 'fake' Australian Labradoodle puppies and I think it is important that you, the buyer are made aware of what you potentially could end up buying.

The Australian Labradoodle breed has been in development for 40+ years; originated in the 1980s by a man called Wally Conran of Royal Guide Dogs to create a hypoallergenic dog that would be asthma, allergy friendly and also a therapy service dog. Thus Wally created the Labradoodle;
a Poodle x Labrador = Labradoodle.
However Wally didn't quite achieve the desired result. The labradoodle lacked consistency, in coat, temperament and size. It was two Breeders in Australia called Tegan Park and Rutland Manor that took the Labradoodle breed that Wally had created and infused a further 4 more breeds and created the ‘Australian labradoodle service dog’ which provided a more consistent, standardized breed in terms of coat, temperament, and size.

REMEMBER
Only Genuine Australian Labradoodles can only be bred with another Australian Labradoodle to be truly authentic i.e
Australian Labradoodle X Australian Labradoodle
=
Australian Labradoodle
All of my lines here at Lexacious Australian Labradoodles can be traced back to Tegan Park & Rutland manor so you can be assured you are getting a genuine Multi generational 100% Australian Labradoodle. GenuineAustralian Labradoodles are overseen by organisations such as WALA;
World Australian Labradoodle Association; with an ethical code on stringent health testing & DNA profiling.
What is DNA Profile
A DNA profile gives a unique genetic code for your dog. You could think of it like your dog’s very own genetic fingerprint. This allows accurate identification of your dog and can be used to confirm their parentage. Unlike other identification means, a DNA profile remains the same throughout the dog’s entire life and cannot be lost, manipulated or destroyed. If a breeder has not DNA tested their dog then you should be wary if their dogs are a genuine ALD or that they have the rights to breed that dog!
All of our DNA tests and health tests are submitted to WALA. Once these have been submitted, and verified by WALA our breeding dogs are registered with their own unique WALA reference number.
All of our breeding dogs DNA & health tests are available to see upon request.

When dog breeding, it is recommended to keep the COI (Coefficient of inbreeding) less than 5%; Under WALA rules we breed ethically within a strict COI percentage %. Anything higher of COI 5% increases the risk of health issues to the offspring of that litter. All these other Doodle mixes out there which have NOT been DNA tested and if their dogs are NOT registered with an organisation, then they are not are not able to check the lineage and parentage of their dogs and could possibly be 'inbreeding; resulting in *significant health issues of their litters and potentially massive health costs to you, the buyer.
For e.g. the Goldendoodle, did you know that the Golden Retriever has the HIGHEST amount of cancer in the breed of any other purebred dog. Hence Golden Doodles will have a higher rate of cancer than other doodle mixes! The Bernese Mountain dogs have shorter life span and a higher rate of hip dysplasia. These health issues will also show up in Bernadoodles.
That's why it is important to research your breed and research your breeder who carries out ethical practices.
Australian Labradoodles
have a total of 6 breeds fused together namely the: Poodle, Labrador, Cocker Spaniel (English & American), the Irish Water Spaniel and the Curly Coat Retriever.
The Australian Labradoodle breed is non aggressive. They have a very special type of intuitive manner with all those that they meet. They are full of character and have unique, funny personalities. They make fantastic family pets, they are sociable, happy, very intelligent, and easy to train. They absolutely love water & getting wet is a must. They like to hunt, whether that's chasing squirrels in the park or sniffing out treats from a passer by.They are great companion, service, therapy dogs that do not like to be left alone (this includes following you to the toilet; they follow you everywhere)! They love to please you, are amazing with other animals & children, and have have a distinctive free flowing teddy bear low to non shedding odour free coat.

3 Coat Types:
Hair- this type is less allergy friendly and tends to shed a little, like a regular dog it is flat, coarse and doesn't tend to grow much in length. this type is seen in earlier generations of labradoodles F1, F1b, F2 etc

Fleece-wavy or curly this is a non shedding coat, that is soft silky, straight or wavy, can also be curly with spirals and long in length. This is your typical Multi-generational Australian Labradoodle coat type it is best suited for allergy/asthma sufferers however anyone that has an allergy must first meet with one of our doodles beforehand as there is no guarantee.

Wool- is your typical poodle type curly coat lambs wool texture, again this is also non shedding and best suited for allergy sufferers.

Please Note: there is no such guarantee that a coat type can be 100% hypoallergenic and does not shed. Some people can also be allergic not only to the dogs dander but also the dogs saliva.
We advise anyone with allergies to spend some time with an ALD, before making the commitment of bringing one into you home & heart then sadly having to return your dog due to your allergy.
